Travel Tips at the Hotel

Travel Tips at the Hotel

Travelling tips at the hotel will hopefully save you at the very least some embarrassment. Hotels are given a star rating with five stars being at the top, generally four and five star ratings are expected to be the best in terms of services offered. At lower rates you can expect less in terms of services and facilities. Naturally the higher the star the more you can expect to pay for staying there. It is always worth checking the Internet for special deals, as very often promotional offers come along and can be really very cheap compared to the original pricing. Staying awpay from peak holiday periods can often lead to finding deals of this nature, as hotels endeavour to fill all their empty rooms.

Safes How Safe?

In the higher rated hotels you may well find that there is a room safe where you can store your valuable things during your stay, but hotel room safes how safe are they exactly? Most likely these will be accessed electronically by means of a touch pad with the hotel providing a PIN number for security. There have been instances in the past where these have been breached by means of the finger prints left on the pad where a powder or light oil residue has been placed, giving workers a clue to the PIN being used. Therefore it would be worthwhile cleaning these when using the safe so that no trace is left behind, or touch some of the other keys to make detection harder. If you feel uncertain about using the room safe, then you can always deposit things into the hotel reception safe.

Drink Coolers at Hotel Prices

Talking about electronics and the shear wizardry of it all reminds me of a time a few years back when we stayed in a London hotel with a number of friends while on a coach trip. The rooms all had a drinks cooler in them which was packed with alcoholic beverages. Some imagined that these were part of the room cost and got an unpleasant surprise when they were billed for them at the end of the stay. One particular couple actually removed the drinks to put sandwiches in there overnight for the next day. Fortunately for them the hotel let them off with the bill for the drinks. The thing to bear in mind here is that these device actually sense when an item is removed and automatically charge to the room number. So unless you actually want to indulge in drinking from these coolers don’t fiddle about with them, it will cost you!

Before Travelling Get Yourself Organised

Here at the Travelling Tips website our aim is to give you, the traveller, and some things to think about before and while you travel around to and from your holiday destination. No doubt most of the tips will be familiar to yourself, but as they say two brains are (usually) better than one. There may be some ideas new to you that you have never thought about, and we hope that you find these before travelling tips very helpful in one way or another.

Before Travelling Do Research

Another saying over the years has been, a little knowledge is dangerous. Well, if nothing else, a little knowledge could lead to embarrassment, or frustration, so do not assume anything, be sure! It really does pay dividends when before travelling you do research in order to find out as much as you can about your holiday destination. Depending on which country you plan to take your vacation in, find information about that particular land, and even the different regions of it, if you plan to travel around inside it.

Word-of-mouth from friends or relatives, and maybe even peoples Internet blogs, may give you an unbiased opinion about the place you are travelling to. Beware of travel agents advice, unless you can check it out thoroughly, as they have a vested interest in all holiday destinations that they offer. Taking a look at your own Governments website can be very useful to find information about certain countries, especially if their happens to be problems in those places, in that case even more so before travelling do research.

Before Travelling Make a List

Assuming that you have chosen your destination, what will you put on the before travelling list that will be of benefit in planning ahead for the event? You will want to include certain things that you have found out about during your research. Perhaps you have discovered there are some things you will need for the vacation, as a memory aid make a note of those. Write down a plan of action, and list things that can be ticked as done, then you will have a better idea of what you need to do next. Go through the list with others just in case they think of something you missed.
